1955- VIENTIAN, Laos, Feb. 27 1955. Secretary of State John Foster Dulles today pledged that the United States would fight any outside Communist aggression against Laos provided this threatened but complacent country gets rid of the internal Communist threat.
1956 – September 5th President Eisenhower tells a news conference that the French are "involved in a hopelessly losing war in Indochina
1957- A coalition war established in 1957 between monarchists and communists.
1958- North Vietnam took over several towns in Laos. They raised the Vietnamese flag over them and declared them a part of Vietnam.
1959- Coalition war collapsed
- Two Americans are killed and one wounded during a Viet Minh attack 20 miles north of Saigon.
